Abstract

These verses of Surah An-Naba present profound signs of Allah Almighty’s absolute power and Lordship, inviting mankind to reflect and develop certainty about the reality of the Day of Resurrection. The description of the earth as a resting place signifies its suitability and comfort for human life—facilitating habitation, agriculture, and movement. The portrayal of mountains as pegs illustrates the earth’s stability, preventing seismic disturbance. The creation of mankind in pairs ensures the continuity of human life and forms the essential basis of social structure. Making sleep a means of rest, the night a covering like a garment, and the day a time for livelihood addresses both the physical and economic necessities of human existence.

The creation of seven mighty heavens reflects the remarkable order and resilience of the universe, while describing the sun as a radiant lamp underscores its indispensable role in providing heat, light, and life-sustaining energy. The sending down of water from rain-bearing clouds to produce grain, fodder, and flourishing gardens demonstrates Allah’s direct providence and sustenance for His creation.

Collectively, these signs affirm that every dimension of the universe is the outcome of the deliberate planning and flawless management of a Wise and All-Powerful Creator, fully capable of resurrecting humanity on the Day of Judgment. This study offers an academic and comparative analysis concerning the earth, the heavens, the mountains, the creation of all things in pairs, and the divine wisdom in sleep and night-time as coverings.
